Corfu is a marvelous town worth visiting in Greece. It has an Archaeological Museum that is located on the street along the waterfront. It is also home to the pediment that comes from the Temple of Artemis. Another interesting display in the museums is the Medusa, which is thought of as a good model of archaic sculpture. The Museum of Asian Art is one of Corfu’s delightful attractions. This structure houses an extensive collection of Japanese and Chinese art works. It is a stunning neoclassical structure that was put up by the British back in 1920. You would see Chinese porcelain plus Japanese ceramics, sculptures, and prints in the building. The Achilleion Villa was created for Empress Elizabeth of Austria back in 1890. This was done as a monument to her son named Rudolf when he died because of suicide. This villa was neoclassical in style and it displays several motifs and statues that are associated with Achilles. The villa’s gardens are also decorated with numerous statues that were commissioned by the Empress, which includes the renowned “Dying Achilles” done by German sculptor Herter. Some parts of the villa are now open to the public as a museum and there is a casino situated on the second level.
