Sparta - Top 10 travel destinations in Greece

Sparta is a popular destination in Greece. One of its attractions is the Mount Taygetos. Adventurous tourists can actually be part of local hikes or even climb this mountain. Another great place in Sparta is the Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil. This is a small museum that is inside a striking stone warehouse that has been restored. This was opened to the public only in 2005 and it concentrates on the use and cultivation of the olives throughout the years in Greece. There is a tiny shop that sells wonderful postcards, posters and pure olive oil soap. The Acropolis & Ancient Theater is another enjoyable place to visit. This is located just further than the statue of Leonidas and is supposedly near his tomb. It was initially among the biggest theaters in Greece that can seat up to 16,000 people. Another attraction in Sparta is its Archaeological Museum. There is a lovely fifth-century bust made of marble that shows Leonidas in this museum. Also worth checking here is its Rose Garden. You can also visit the Temple of Artemis Orthia when you are in Sparta. This is the place where the Spartan boys were beaten and whipped in order to learn endurance and courage.

With seemingly infinite coastlines and numerous islands, a trip to Greece presents a fantastic blend of soul-satisfying recreation and cultural discovery. Almost all visitors are drawn to this country’s renowned antiquities and there are only a few who can resist concentrating on the sand and the sun. Greece is a place that should be experienced in all its glory. Take the time to savor its wonderful culture and you would have the time of your life in this majestic country.
